The first Conn Trumpet I ever played was a 1949 Conn Vocabell from my Dad. This was the Trumpet I played through High School and it was and still IS a beautiful horn. Back in the old days, the Conn Trumpet was considered a top brand among trumpet players through many decades 1900s, 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. I play a 30 year old Bach Strad, today, but I know that the Conn Constellation Trumpet from my Dad will always be considered my favorite trumpet.
Many of the greats played a Conn Trumpet at one time or another. Maynard Ferguson, for instance, was known for his big, fat, powerful sound and warm tone on the Conn Constellation.
